Attn: Members! You may have seen or heard stories recently in the media regarding shootings in an HOA over unpaid assessments. See the most recent here.

In the event you are contacted by the media for a particular incident or a general inquiry, we drafted a response you and/or your board may want to consider using (see below). We don’t recommend you respond unless you are contacted by the media. If you need any assistance with a media response, please let us know.

MEDIA RESPONSE
Community Associations Institute (CAI) is deeply saddened and troubled by the recent mass shootings in our country. We are also concerned about the news of a recent shooting of a homeowners association board president’s wife by a resident allegedly delinquent in paying their assessments. Our neighborhoods should be safe and secure with residents who are kind and compassionate. CAI members hope for a full recovery and swift justice for the victim.
